Chalk Property - Real Estate Agency, Property Management and Residential and Commercial Sales

We moved to WA and were looking for a new home. From the start Jess from Chalk Real Estate has been very helpful and she understood our needs with the difficulties of FIFO timetables to be available for viewings and completing paperwork etc. Jess was very knowledgeable about the property and gave us a detailed run down of the history and what may need attention. We are now hoping to move in and enjoy our new home very soon. Thank you Jess.

After months of searching and applying with no success, we had a lot of viewings with James, he went above and beyond to help us find the right place for us. With a property he’d sent us, that was what we were looking for, he passed us onto his colleague Ramona, who has been excellent with the entire process from viewing, to paperwork, to move in day. She was excellent explaining all the details and answering every question we’ve had. Made it a very smooth process. Highly recommend.

Chalk Property is the worst real estate agency. They have absolutely no consideration or desire to help their tenants. I was left with a cooker/oven intermittently not working for 54 days. I have been left with one bathroom out of action for 69 days and counting, and I was told both repairs would be completed within a couple of weeks of moving in MAX. During the recent storm, my ceiling began to bow and leak water. I tried getting in touch with my property manager, Ramona, but at 5:20pm on a Wednesday, she didn't pick up her mobile or respond to my messages until the following morning (When she sent me a text message to call her.. professional, huh). I contacted SES as per the instructions on their website who came and replaced a broken tile and cleared the completely occluded gutters (another regular maintenance issue not completed by Chalk/the owners). Due to a blockage, I have wastewater backfilling into the kitchen sinks and laundry. The plumber attended and cleared the blockage and explained he had been here last year for the same thing, but the agency didn't want to proceed with the appropriate repairs, so this blockage will continue to happen. My downstairs bathroom (the only functioning one in the house) was leaking water into the wall, the tradesmen advised this was a structural concern and could cave in. I was extremely patient with Chalk to get this rectified whilst dealing with damp and mould. When they finally got around to organising the reseal of the bathroom (after 3 different quotes), I was advised I couldn't use the shower for 4 days. This meant I had no means to bathe for 4 days, which Chalk were not concerned about. I try to get things organised, I take time off of work to be home for tradesmen to come through, but Chalk continuously advises them to quote the repairs and leave, then their quotes are too expensive, and the next tradesmen are organised. This pattern occurs over and over again. I am now in the process of using consumer protection and breach orders as a last-ditch effort to have the work completed. I have included the directors of the agency, Murray and Jackie Brown, in my emails but have yet to have any input from them. This agency is a prime example of agents and landlords taking advantage of the rental crisis and exploiting us for everything while giving little in return. The house I am renting is barely fit for habitation and Chalk are unwilling to uphold their legal obligation. It's so disheartening that they expect tenants to live in these environments but I guarantee they wouldn't themselves. The pictures speak for themselves for the state of the property. Do not use this company if you value your health, well-being, and sanity. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. EDIT- You mean the roof that was damaged a week ago and still hasn't been fixed as the owners just wanted the tradies to quote it and not repair it? Again, no response from the directors. Just more disappointing emails from the property manager deflecting responsibility. DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH, WELLBEING, AND SANITY. They are taking advantage of genuine tenants who want a safe and functional home. The pictures absolutely speak volumes of the state of the property. The agency are in denial if they believe the BS they just responded. I will absolutely ensure everyone I know hears about this place and the landlords. Disgusting!

Purchased this property several years ago and Chalk have managed it for our family since. When it came time to sell we decided who better to sell it than the people who have been looking after it all this time. It sold it what I thought was record time for a good price and Hayley Tubbs, the selling agent was very professional and done an outstanding job. My wife and I would have no hesitation in recommending Chalk Property for any real estate issues.
